Questions to Ask Day Care Providers

Finding day care can be an emotional, time-consuming process, but you want the absolute best for your child. We understand!

What questions should you ask? How do you know if they're simply 'on their best behavior' during the interview? What should you expect from your potential provider?

Here are some additional questions to ask as you discuss child care with potential providers:

  • Does each infant have his or her own crib to sleep in?
  • Does each crib meet current safety standards?
  • Is the mattress firm, with no comforters or pillows in the crib?
  • Does the child care provider always put babies on their backs to sleep (link to Back to Sleep section) unless there is a doctor's order to not do so?
  • Is the staff trained in CPR for infants?
  • Is the facility a non-smoking facility?
