Information for Bereaved Families

Dear Parent:

Please accept my sincere condolences on the recent loss of your child. I hope that the enclosed materials from SIDS Mid-Atlantic will be of help to you. Some of this information may be useful immediately, while others may not be needed until a later time or not at all. We developed this packet to try to assist you, newly bereaved parents, through a very difficult and painful time.

Our services are for all families who have experienced the sudden unexpected death of an infant. As time goes on, you may have a number of questions concerning your child's death as well as questions for other parents who have survived such a loss and moved on. We offer a monthly support meeting, and you will receive quarterly newsletters from our organization to keep you informed of what we are doing. I hope that the following resources provide information that is helpful to you.

SIDS Mid-Atlantic sponsors a support group for anyone who has lost a baby. The group meets the first Thursday evening of every month from 7 to 9 pm at McLean Presbyterian Church, 1020 Balls Hill Road , McLean , Virginia in the Parlor.

The support group is free and open to anyone affected by the loss of a baby

is always helpful for the newly bereaved families to have the support of families who have “been through it.”
